Mary Rice lives in Brentwood, Tennessee and specializes in portraits, commercial, and fine art photography. Her work is diverse so you may see her on location in your home, in her home studio, on the streets of Nashville or while traveling.  


She has an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt, a law degree from Indiana University at Bloomington, and practiced law for many years in Atlanta before moving to Tennessee to focus on her family and photography. In 2011, she earned an Associates degree in Visual Communication from Nashville State where she was the Bogen Cafe scholarship winner and president of the Student Photography Society. Upon graduation she gained additional training as an assistant to Rachel Paul Photography.


Today Mary spends much of her time shooting portraits and product photography.  Her portrait work includes  lifestyle photography of young families, engagement photos, head shots, and senior portraits.  She regularly shoots product photography for  She also photographs architecture/interiors, events, nature, and sports.


Mary's photography has been published in many publications including Middle Tennessee EquestrianAmerican Spirit (cover and feature),  The Intriguing Vision of Sylvia Hyman, Trump L'oeil Ceramic Artist (2011), Stream Valley, and Photographer's Forum.  Mary has completed commercial shoots for ads appearing in many local publications, including Nashville Interiors and Nashville Arts and Entertainment.  


Mary also enjoys fine art photography.  She has been an Ambassador to the Center for Fine Art Photography in Ft. Collins, Colorado, where she has been juried into three international exhibits. Last fall Mary exhibited at the Darkroom Gallery in Essex Junction, Vermont.  She also participated in the Curated Fridge exhibit themed "Road Trip" juried by Aline Smithson in Brooklyn, New York.   She most recently exhibited at the Southeast Center for Photography in Greenville, South Carolina, in an exhibit themed "Color."


Mary is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers, the Professional Photographers of America, and the Professional Photographers of Middle Tennessee.
